Do you want to heal your relationship with food and body?
Are you tired of dieting? Do you struggle with looking at your body in the mirror? Do you hate how your clothes fit?
What is Intuitive Eating?
Intuitive eating is a weight-inclusive, evidence based-model approaching how we look at eating and body image with a framework that addresses instinct, emotion, and thoughts developed by two dietitians, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. There are 10 dynamic principles.
It emphasizes listening to your body, promoting self-awareness around natural hunger and fullness cues rather than following external diet rules or restrictions. Intuitive eating rejects the notion of "good" or "bad" foods, as that dichotomous thinking results in guilt and shame when those foods are consumed. Intuitive eating focuses on healing through changing how we think about food and how we approach how we see our body. The goal is to develop a more harmonious relationship with food and an increased acceptance of our physical body.
How do I get started?
Lisa will work with you to determine which of the 10 principles of intuitive eating are a struggle. Lisa uses traditional talk therapy, art therapy, and guided imagery to guide you through this process. For many, there are long standing, ingrained messages that need to be replaced with more realistic thoughts and beliefs for success in healing the body.
